"Music is an outburst of the soul"
Katalin Prentice is an accomplished Hungarian-British soprano with a diploma in classical and
opera singing from Trinity College London and the Associated Studios and Performing Arts
Academy London.
Katalin's musical journey began at an early age with ten years of piano and four years of violin
lessons, eventually leading her to study classical singing at the Béla Bartók Conservatoire in
Békéscsaba from ages fourteen to eighteen.
Throughout her time at the conservatoire, Katalin performed in numerous concerts, children’s
opera productions and had the honour of singing the soprano solo in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater
with the Chamber Orchestra in Békéscsaba.
While pursuing her degree in Dentistry, she continued to refine her vocal technique, taking regular classical singing lessons with Professor Dr. Éva Mohos Nagy at the University of Music in
Debrecen.
Katalin's exceptional talent earned her first prize in the Classical Singing category at the
International Song Festival in Oradea, Romania, in 2008, alongside the highest art scholarship
from the University of Dentistry for her musical contributions to various charitable events and
productions.
After relocating to London in 2012, Katalin studied under renowned vocal coach Nan Christie and
also became a member of the London Symphony Chorus, collaborating with esteemed
conductors and musicians.
Her marriage in 2016 to her English husband brought her to Norfolk, where she starred as
Frasquita in Carmen and made her acclaimed debut as Pamina in The Magic Flute.
Determined to refine her skills further, Katalin completed the one year opera course at the
Associated Studios and Performing Arts Academy in London, where she participated in
masterclasses and worked with highly respected coaches and directors. In 2017, she reignited
her passion for baroque music through masterclasses with Rosalind Plowright and Sophie
Daneman, and since then, she has actively performed in church concerts and recitals throughout
Suffolk and Norfolk.
In 2019, she showcased her talent in a performance of the soprano solo from Beethoven’s Mount
of Olives with the Pakefield Singers Choir. Her stage presence and vibrant voice have received
acclaim in reviews. Since that performance she has been regularly invited to collaborate with the
choir.
Supported by her vocal coach Vetta Wise, Katalin earned her Trinity College ATCL Singing
Diploma with Distinction in December 2019.
Katalin has participated in international competitions over the years, competing with some of the
most talented young opera singers globally. In 2020, she received an honourable mention from
the Odin International Music Competition. In 2021, she triumphed at the ALPIN TRIGLAV
International Music, Dance, and Fine Art Competition, winning the Grand Prix and earning an
invitation to perform at the prestigious Crystal Hall in Rogaška Slatina, Slovenia.

perform a series of solo concerts in Rome alongside the talented Italian concert pianist Federico
Bucaioni, a fellow Grand Prix winner in the piano category in 2021, Slovenia. Their exceptional
performances in and around Rome garnered attention, leading to an invitation to perform in
London in November 2024.
Most recently, in February 2025, Katalin celebrated a remarkable achievement by securing third
prize in the professional category at the Global Musical Arts International Competition. Following
her success in the competition, she received an invitation to perform in Scotland with the Hungarian conductor, Ádám Baliga, and the Arbroath Male Voices in May 2025.
